Getting Past Bland
By Joe Spoelstra, Author of Marketing Outrageously & Adjunct Professor at Wizard Academy
Chapter 3, page 46, Marketing Outrageously
I think we are all conditioned to think bland.

Bland is safe. Bland is politically correct. Bland is not getting laughed at.
Bland, however, is bad marketing.
Bland doesn’t make the buyer think. Bland doesn’t touch the emotions of the buyers. Bland doesn’t motivate the buyer to buy. But bland marketing is popular. Let me reiterate why bland is popular.
• Bland is safe.
• Bland is politically correct
• Bland is not getting laughed at.
Marketing bland does work, however. It works when competing against other bland marketing. Then, whoever has the biggest pile of bland usually wins.
Marketing bland, however, doesn’t work against Marketing Outrageously. In fact, against Marketing Outrageously. marketing bland isn’t safe at all - it’s dangerous to those who use it. Marketing Outrageously beats the hell out of marketing bland, time after time after time.
From the Editor: Do you have the courage, to say NO, to bland? Good, let’s plan how we can take over the world.
